Last Thursday I joined the “Beyond the Frontier” conference here in New York, speaking on the discussion panel, “Inventive by Nature: Creative Entrepreneurship in Times of Change.” And then I ripped my shirt off.

With less than ten minutes until our scheduled group appearance, our gang of four huddled in a corner of Microsoft’s Soho office “garage” to introduce ourselves to one another. Our panel consisted of Amy Peck (Founder & CEO, EndeavorXR), Sam Hunter Magee (Director on Creativity and Entrepreneurship for the Lemann Program at Harvard), Tiya Gordon (Co-founder & COO, It’s Electric), and myself. I was happily outclassed. I had a good feeling about our panel.

Today I’m in Cambridge, Massachusetts as a guest speaker for the annual HarvardXR conference hosted by Harvard University. This year’s theme, “Extended Intelligence”, focuses on the convergence of AI and XR at Harvard and beyond.

HarvardXR’s goal is to provide a platform for students, researchers, practitioners, and entrepreneurs to discuss how XR is shaping the future across different industries. I will be speaking at 2:20pm this afernoon in Room A: 1.321 as part of the Immersive Reality session, anchored by the legendary creative technologist, Bradley Munkowitz (AKA “GMUNK”). Studio Music is a blog that "provides an insight into the creative process of visual practitioners, through the music that they listen to whilst working." (Text from their About page.) This Thursday Stewart will be speaking at the sold out On Digital Experience event in London organized by It's Nice That along with Ross Phillips and Daniel Brown. Back in 2009, Stewart contributed an essay for the premiere print issue of It's Nice That on the 1974 Arecibo welcoming message to aliens. And then moved across the Atlantic to the UK, becoming the alien in need of welcome.

Next week I'll be conducting a workshop for students in the Media and Interaction Design department at the University of Art and Design, Lausanne (ÉCAL) in Lausanne, Switzerland. —Stewart

Jürg Lehni and Stewart have been invited as tutors to a one month workshop at the Royal College of Art organized by the Helen Hamlyn Centre and sponsored by Research in Motion. As part of the workshop proceedings Stewart will be speaking about his work at the RCA tomorrow afternoon at 13:30 in the Performing Arts Lab (on the first floor of the Stevens Building). Jürg will do likewise the following Wednesday.

Next Wednesday, November 10th, Stewart will give a short lecture titled Code Play: The Value of Play in Coding at the Creativity and Technology conference in London. The theme of Code Play will be illustrated by way of some favorite projects from around the web as well as some Stewdio work--primarily Browser Pong, Jed's Other Poem, and a sneak peek at a new collaboration with Robert Pietrusko titled Under Vine which opens at the SFMOMA later this month. Stewart was interviewed by Creativity Online last March in a piece called Face to face with the brains behind iQuit, Browser Pong and other experiments in digital fun. Here's the schedule and a list of speakers for next Wednesday's conference.
